Cleaning and maintenance

The diamond rim must not get in contact with acids or acid-containing cleaners and must be carefully protected against mechanical damage. The diamond grinder can be cleaned best in an ultrasonic bath at 60 Degrees C with additional caustic potash solution and afterwards Hydrogenperoxide in a 10 % concentration. The extractors are cleaned like all other surgical instruments and may be brushed. While brushing, the cutting edge must be protected against mechanical damage. The handles and the adapter can be cleaned with a moist rag or a soft brush. Both instruments must not be immersed in cleaning or disinfection solutions. The adaptor should be rinsed with distilled water while drill is operating, in order to avoid rests of the cleaner and lime sediments in the washing borehole.

Sterilisation

The whole DIASURGE-Instrumentation can be sterilized in the autoclave (134° C, 2 bar over pressure). The grinders and extractors must be laid onto a slip-proof pad in the sterilisation container or winded into a tissue to avoid damages.

Important notice

The DIASURGE should never be put down with the diamond head of the grinder onto the intstrumentation desk first because it could cause damage to the diamond rim which could lead to a failure of the emergent concentric running. The extractor must only be used for cutting of cartilage. This must be done with the handle put on and soft beats onto the beating area. For ideal results a plastic hammer is recommended. Never precut bone with the extractor!

Please note!

DIASURGE is a precision instrumentation which might be damaged by improper handling. The principle of wet grinding requires - unlike normal drilling - precise feeling and careful handling because too much bearing pressure might cause a disfunction of the internal washing and rinsing system.
