There are microwave ovens in various designs to fit your kitchen decor. Some have a right-to-left swing-out door, while others feature a drop-down design that opens the same way as an ordinary oven. You can also purchase a microwave-oven combo that opens in a drawer, similar to a cabinet. The microwave drawers can be easily reached and are ideal for small space.
Combination microwaves are also equipped with many features that make meal preparation easier and more convenient. Some models feature the option of a sensor steam mode that adjusts the temperature and duration of your food automatically to ensure that you get perfectly steamed vegetables and fish. Other features include the broil element, which lets you quickly melt cheese and cook your favorite food. Crispwave(tm), meanwhile, can grill, bake, and crisp food items.
Consider how often you'll make use of each feature when choosing the microwave oven combination. If you'll be using the oven more often than the micro, you might prefer a double wall-oven. They are more energy efficient than traditional wall-mounted ovens and provide a more efficient way to cook. Additionally, they can usually be used to cook food and warm dishes, which reduces the need for additional appliances, such as toasters or warming plates.
When evaluating possible amendments to energy conservation standards, DOE conducts several analyses that include assessment of technology and market, screening analysis, engineering analysis and national impacts analysis (NIA). In this SNOPR, DOE will use its existing engineering analysis on microwave ovens to determine what level of efficiency improvements are technologically feasible for this product type.
In the engineering analysis, DOE will compare the design parameters of a microwave against an energy performance set of goals. The engineering analysis will then determine the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is technologically feasible based on the most advanced microprocessor-controlled model available on the market or in working prototypes, or the maximum reduction in energy consumption that is technically achievable with the current technologies available for this product class.
As part of NIA, DOE will assess the impacts on consumers, Built in Microwave Oven Combo including the lifecycle cost savings, and simple payback time (PBP). DOE will use the Government Regulatory Impact Model, with an adaptation for ovens that can be microwaved to calculate the industry net present value (NPV).
DOE will also examine the impacts on manufacturers, and will use an industry-specific cash flow model adapted to this product type in order to estimate manufacturing NPV. In addition, DOE will consider the potential impacts on small business manufacturers and other manufacturer subgroups to identify any that may be disproportionally affected by these proposals.
DOE will also consider whether the test procedure for microwave ovens requires to be revised to include active mode power consumption and an integrated double oven with microwave energy use measure. Currently, the test protocols only address the standby mode power usage.
Design
Wall ovens rely on evenly circulating hot air while microwaves use waves to cause the water molecules in food to vibrate and generate heat. Combination wall ovens blend these two very different appliances into a single unit that can be used to save kitchen space and gives an elegant, modern look. You must carefully think about your budget and Built in Microwave Oven Combo needs before purchasing a combination wall oven. Many of the combination wall ovens in our ratings have issues with performance or design.
